LSRCA’s Education team continued to face challenges at the start of 2021 as a return to in-person learning was put on hold with the extension of the provincial lockdown. But, that didn’t stop them! Between January 4th and February 16th, the team engaged virtually with a total of 830 students across the watershed.

Schoolyard visits start back up!

Wednesday, February 17th was a big day! This was the Outdoor Education team’s first chance to engage with students outside in their schoolyard (in a safe and socially distanced manner, of course!). All the snow from the previous day provided the perfect conditions to learn about animal tracks. The team designed touchless teaching resources, like tracking guides on large signs, that students could reference to help them learn about animal adaptations and interpret the patterns they observed in their local green space. Students also had a blast waddling, bouncing and hopping in the deep snow just like our local animals do!
