There’s a new tool for anyone planning to hike the trails at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area.

The 282 hectare park just north of Bradford is criss-crossed by trails, from the 1.5 km Sugar Maple Loop, to the 3 km Kingfisher Trail that circles the lowlands, travelling through dense forest.

The free Avenza app not only provides an image of the trail system, it also shows the user’s location as a blue dot – providing the hiker’s place on the trail, distance to other trails, and rate of travel.

Mobile Maps

Smartphone maps are now available for the Scanlon Creek Conservation Area. Simply download the app on your smartphone and use it when you ​visit. It’s that easy! Once the map is downloaded, you won’t have to use your data when you hit the trails.

How to Use Avenza

  1. Download the Avenza app on your mobile phone​.
  2. Create an account  (or click the small white x in the top right corner to skip this step!)​
  3. Tap the store button.
  4. Click the “Find Maps” search bar. Search for LSRCA and select the map.
  5. Click install.
  6. Go to My Maps.
  7. Select your map and hit the trails. Once you install your map, you no longer need access to data.
